Turbocharger whistling noise, going into lint mode after 70mph

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and it's my first post. I recently bought an Avensis verso D4D and it was running fine until two days ago. I was doing around 70mph when engine management light came on and I lost power. Pulled over to services and turned engine off. After five minutes I restarted the engine and the engine management light had gone off. Everything seemed fine, so I drove off but when I accelerated over 50mph the turbo made whistling noise. Can someone help me to understand if the turbo is on it's way out.
