MOT Failure Corroded Breakpipes

Looks like my Auris has failed its MOT. Last year their was advisory on break pipes on both sides. Looks like they have failed this time. So I am being charged £40 for the MOT and £55 for the break pipes plus £15 for the retest fee as I am getting the breakpipes fitted by another garage.

How much work is fitting two break pipes? Not sure where the corrosion is.

It depends which pipes, the front to rear pipes are common and is quite a big job, I suspect at £55 it will be the two from the flexy hose to the caliper, probably an hours job to fit and bleed the brakes

Not sure where exactly the corrosion is but it's both sides. The car isn't driven much, so I expect rust issues, exhaust issues are common.

Well he said he could possibly do it by 5.30 so 1.5 hours but said he didn't want to rush it so will fix it by tomorrow morning.

So the MOT failure was

001 Brake Pipe excessively corroded offside rear.

002 Brake Pipe excessively corroded (both front to rear at rear)

The guy who fixed it wasn't around so I assume that was for 2 break pipes - cost was £55.

Also on the advisory was

nearside front (wishbone rear bush starting to separate)

The garage guy said its £25 plus the part - depending on what part.

Are these fair prices to pay?
