Higher Mileage, Does It matter

Evening all,

I have decided to go on the search for a celica as a starter project that will need to service my needs of day to day living etc. I am looking at a car on eBay for around £350 on a Y plate that just hit 100k miles. My budget is about £700 for the project starting costs.

A question i have is does the mileage matter or can they run as long as its maintained?

Any feedback will be great

100k is nothing on modern engines with regular oil changes etc. The problem comes with some of the celicas suffered excessive oil consumption (Toyota say anything up to 1lt per 1k is in spec, but still !Removed! high if you ask me)

Which model is it exactly.?...if it's the 190 then you'll have no problems at all in respect of oil burning....and not all pre facelift 140 Celicas suffered...they were simply prone to it.

If it's been maintained well..and importantly, had all the right oil/filter changes (preferably every 5/6k miles) then it may well be fine.

As for the mileage.?...100k is nothing..,.200k miles+ is not that uncommon on these engines...IF they are maintained as they should be.
