hi

I have a 1.4 diesel yaris on initially starting the car there is some white smoke comes out the exhaust for a couple of seconds maybe is this something I need to be worried about? it is due for its service in 3 weeks at Toyota if as ive heard there prone to head gasket problems is this something that would be picked up during the servicing?

Normal id say , its just condensation within the exhaust that is getting exhausted out :) Usually happens when the car is started from cold. Usually should go within a few minutes.

Err.. it could be steam from a small head gasket leak.

 

Have you checked coolant levels? Are the falling? Is the coolant discoloured?  If Yes and yes, you need to get a sniff test of the coolant to detect exhaust gasses.

 

Has your coolant antifreeze been changed? Its life is 10 years.
