Is this a defective servo pump ?

The video below is of a 2004 model 2L Diesel.

The initial video picture shows what must be hydraulic/servo pump.

The noise, disappears at =>1000 RPM,   but is rattling around when idle.  - I see no leaks.

If I turn the steering wheel when  parked, and running at idle RPM, the noise is continuous while the wheels are loading the servo, if I position the steering wheel so that the servo should not have any work to do, then the noise is random.

There is no noise >=1000 RPM regardless of load, and the steering seems normal (the hydraulics are helping)

Questions:

1: are these typical symptoms for a defective pump ?

1: Can I be sure that replacing the pump is the solution ?  (or some parts inside)

2: is it a trivial job done with standard tools, or will I need to prime/drain the hydraulics or need special tools ?

Thank you.
