Where is solenoid located for estate tailgate handle

Hi all

im trying to find the solenoid or actuator for my 2003 estate to check which part number i need (to see if its that part that has failed) and ive took the tailgate handle off expecting it to be there but no sign of it?? its the electronic handle and im assuming its the solenoid that that part actuates that is broken- the lock works electronically i know that but the handle isnt doing anything

where else can it be?? any help? iv looked everywhere

The tailgate lock is a complete unit the lock and motor are integral to each other, see part 69350 on picture:

Unlike the handle the locks are model, spec & age specific

im sure the lock itself works electronically as i disconnected the wiring to it today and when i reconnected it the lock moved.

My problem is that the soft handle on the tailgate does nothing so im assuming thats where the fault is?

i understood- maybe wrongly that there is a solenoid for this handle and i thought that might be what wasnt working

or am i misunderstanding what youve said lol

is handle a button that operates the solenoid to pop the lock open?

As above the "Handle" is a switch that triggers the lock to open

ok,

 

so  i just need a handle? - or boot opener as they call it. I got confused as there are solenoids available for all other models, salooon, hatch etc

that isnt shown on the above image is it- i cant make that image out very clearly

none for sale on eBay,, are there any online shops that do toyota parts cheaper- ill ring the main dealer and see how much first
