Damaged Sill

Hi - I would really appreciate advice. I managed to scrap the car on a low metal bollard which I didn't see (very stupid), and the sill is damaged as shown in the picture. I have been told by a friend who is a mechanic that this is a major job (£800 ish) as the whole panel needs to be replaced. Is this the case or is it possible to repair it for cheaper?

Any advice/ tips gratefully received! Thanks

Do the doors still open and close OK? Does the floor show no signs of any distortion and do the panel gaps appear to be OK? If so you might get away with a repair at a good coachworks ie pull out the dent (they come out pretty easy) then some body filler and paint.

Go and get a proper estimate!

It won't cost you anything unless you tell them to go ahead!!!

a decent bodyrepair shop would be able to repair this.

they can spot weld studs onto the sill so they can pull the dent out.

or try this company its part of autoglass

https://www.autorestore.co.uk/

we have used them at work and their work was top notch

take a photo of the damage and email it to them and in return you get a quote

Can vouch for auto restore, only charged £361.20 for my damaged sill. The guy who fixed it said it was a hollow part so easy to repair, took him all day though.
