Car radio e11 aerial location

Hello all.

I'm planning on installing a new stereo into my Toyota Corolla. Think she's an e11?

Was going to install this Kenwood KDC-164UG stereo. Thought I'd go green to keep with the theme :)

Unless someone can recommend a better stereo? My main requirements are good radio reception (including AM), aux input, good for talk radio, USB charge a plus but not essential.

Anyway, was planning on leaving radio control panel at top as is to keep the clock and the nice green light. Would replace the cassette player at the bottom (as done by dovlagsi here).

I've searched and found this post by nigelhooper (thanks Nigel) which linked to some instructions by ae111sr (thanks ae111sr) and photos by dovlagsi and londoner (thanks guys).

So, I just want to clarify my understanding that the aerial is connected to the head unit at the top with the clock and that I'll need to disconnect this aerial and feed it through to the new stereo at the bottom. Is this correct?

Or I guess I could just forget about transferring the aerial? The radio in the car is performing well so far.

Also, will I need to buy any connectors? Like an ISO to DIN adapter? Will I need to buy release keys?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to bump the thread. Anyone know?

Mainly asking where the aerial is connected to? Will I need any converters? And would like to double check that the clock will still work after installing new stereo.

Thanks in advance.

You want to have a look at the car radio specialist sites like this one, which I have bought from .

Same radio for £10 cheaper plus if you look in their site they have fitting kits / cable adapters for your model .

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/kenwood-kdc-164ug-cd-mp3-front-usb-front-aux

They may also have adapter plates /bezels  that allow you to replace your original head unit and neatly install the new on in the same location with  a new bezel.

Yes, you need to move the aerial lead to the new head unit.

Two things to consider, its said DAB radio is set to replace FM,  ( in the UK that is,  Ireland ( N/S ?)  channels / reception affected  ?) though they keep putting the dates for cut off back; problem is most decent dab units start from £99 +

Replacing your front Speakers with some good, same sized  branded units can also make a significant sound improvement, a change  I made  with great results.
