Toyota Estima age vs mileage

I'm looking at buying a Toyota Estima - hybrid if possible - and would welcome some advice. These cars have a massive spec for the money and seem good value. I'm ready to take the hit on the mpg even for the hybrid.

I can get an older hybrid - 2001/2002 with 60 - 70 on the clock or I can go for a 2004 petrol with lower mileage. The newer imports from 2006 onwards have upwards of 60,000 miles for twice the price.

Does anyone know of any issues with the 2001 hybrid? It was the first year they brought it out so there may be some teething probs.

On the other hand a newer car with slightly lower mileage but heavy on the juice might be a better option. Do I sit it out and wait for a low mileage hybrid to come along...

Any advice gratefully received!

Lisa

If you opt for an older Hybrid I would consider also getting shipped with the vehicle a new set of hybrid batteries as they last about 10 years. Purchasing them later would be more expensive as you would need to pay postage but save this cost by including the battery in the vehicle as it is shipped to you.
