Advice needed, please, rear suspension arm problem

Hi everyone,

Would be grateful for some advice please with regards to some repair work that was identified when I recently took my 2004 Avensis 1.8L Hatchback in for an Intermediate service at my local Toyota dealers.

On the Visual Safety Report sheet, the technician reported: 'rear suspension arm excessively corroded requires replacement'. I was able to verify that it was the offside (driver’s side) suspension arm. I have included an annotated pdf of a picture taken from the rear of the car. Could someone kindly confirm that part B is the suspension arm and not part A? If it is indeed part B, would anyone have an idea or be able to point me in the right direction for acquiring the part number for this arm? The quote provided by Toyota for effecting the repair work was prohibitively high, so I’m looking at perhaps trying to source the part (Toyota or generic) myself and maybe getting a local garage to fit it for me.

Thanks in advance, Michael

Rear suspension arms crop up regularly on the forum I remember a thread where the owner was quoted about £350 to replace one side and it may be more now.

Hi,

In fact I have been quoted £835.87 inclusive of VAT and fitting, therefore any advice on reducing costs would be most welcome!

Thanks, Michael
