new transmission hi-ace supercustom 1993

Right, here goes........

I recently bought a 1993 supercustom, details as below:

 

Model U-LH123V-ERPDS

engine: 3L 2779cc

Trans/Axle A45DL G142

I have noticed that is shudders when going up steep hills, and makes a bad noise when turning full steering lock.

I have a very good mechanic, who actually owned a hi-ace, and said (as it had no service history) change the transmission oil, but it hasn't corrected it so he has said I need a new transmission for it altogether.

 

Just wanted to get anyone's opinion on this issue and anyone got any ideas of where I can source the part because I'm struggling.

 

Also need a new steering wheel for it, if anyone has one please get in touch.
