Help me mod my 2.0 D4D E12

I want to mod my car but am unsure where to start. I would like to lower the car and get bigger wheels but i'm not really sure how this would affect the ride quality and handling.

Also the car has 150k miles on the clock so it might not be the smartest idea to dump money into it. I would like to hear your opinion on the best mods for the E12 corolla and if it is even worth modding in the first place.

Honestly, no. 'Decent' wheels will set you back minimum £300 - and I'd expect to pay a lot more for something reasonable. You can lower it cheaply using lowering springs but they will adversely affect grip and ride, especially small bump sensitivity. If you want to improve the handling whilst lowering it you'd be looking at coilovers, and anything less than around £400 for those will be terrible (unless you can source reasonable second hand ones, where decent sets tend to start around £200).

The best mods you could do would be ICE (wow, sound like I'm back in the early 2000s talking about s*x-spec cars...) The stock headunit is rubbish sound quality wise and around £160 will get you a pretty okay new Android headunit with nav/bluetooth/apps/etc.

I had a look at the prices of coilovers and they are pretty ridiculous. I don't really want to cheap out on springs since it will probably mess with the ride like you said.

I guess its a better idea to keep my money for now although I will probably pick up a head unit if I see one at a good price.

The car is reliable and cheap to run but its not very fun to drive. I guess modding it kind of defeats the purpose of the car.

Anyway thanks for the info!
