vent selector is stuck

The vent selector on my Toyota Verso (2010) is stuck on the setting for feet. I need to be able to defrost my windows! Warm feet won't help me get to work on frosty mornings. I have taken off the plastic casing and it looks like the cable is stuck somewhere. Can anyone tell me where to look and how to get access? (it is a right hand drive).
