... God knows how they will police the congestion charge differential between those on 15" and those on 17.

It's what's on the V5 - if you buy with 15" and change to 17" (or whatever), you'd still get the exemption (until they move the goalposts again).

If you bought with 17" and swapped to 15", you still wouldn't get the exemption unless there was some way of getting the V5 changed (which I seriously doubt).

Once you get the exemption (which expires annually) your registration goes on the CC database so you don't get a penalty notice.

This issue was really about cost, rather than central London stuff....that is what I have a shed full of bikes for!

70 or 76 gram is the green issue, but poss.  it is more important to have a sympathetic drive

Gen 4 question. Whilst driving normally I suddenly get a "BONG" sound for no apparent reason. Be obliged if anybody can tell me what it is. Active Lane Control is switched OFF.

Help please.

Speed camera alert.

Thank you for reply Keith. The "bong" happens when traveling locally and I am familiar with the road cameras on my particular route. The last time it happened was just off a roundabout no speed cameras that I am aware of but it has happened on a straight road!! Perhaps it is something I have to put up with?

Yes,  Chris, switch Off speed camera alerts......I struggled with that on my Gen 3

I'd love to hear from anyone with a Gen 4 Pius who is able to turn off the auto lights feature.

It is possible to vary the sensitivity of switching, according to the amount of ambient light detected; and also to vary the brightness of the instrument cluster when responding to the same.

These and several other options are available as a DIY choice using the Carista App and a suitable OBD2 port dongle if your dealer won't do it for you.

I posted a list of choices available for the Excel model in the UK here:

After the single reverse beep, I particularly like controlling the sensitivity of the parking sensors and silencing them after 3 seconds (an irritating problem at red lights when a bike pulls up next to you and sets them off for the duration of the time waiting for the lights to change!)

yes, thanks.  I'd already turned it to the lowest sensitivity when I first got the car, but it doesn't stop them coming on and off several times in good light but under trees or between buildings.

My dealer confirmed this, and said there was no further adjustment possible.

I've already had 2 close shaves when people thought I was stopping for them when I wasn't!

I turned the sensitivity down using carista, but it didn't seem to make any difference. FWIW there a menu setting on the Nav that does it too.

  • 2 weeks later...

Returned our new car to dealer today for Sat/Nav latest update. Got the car on March 1st with a brand new Sat Nav plus version fitted by the dealer. Salesman assured me it was fully up to date.

I had trouble registering the new Sat/Nav on My Toyota web site so contacted Toyota customer care who sorted that problem out but told me the Sat/Nav was not up to date.

Tried to contact the sales person who sold me the car but he failed on 3 occasions to contact me. In the end I contacted the dealer service manager and he immediately said book the car in. This morning service installed the latest Sat/Nav update.

I informed the service manager that I had been told by sales that the Sat/Nav was fully up to date. He said sales do not know they will tell you anything!!

Lesson learned: check on my Toyota web site E Store for the latest Sat /Nav update and see if it compares to the software on the new car Sat/Nav.

Flat Battery. Yesterday I had a flashing warning "Low12v Battery" Park and refer to manual. Engine would not start interior lights flashing. Ignition off I could see no reason.  Lucky for me the car was outside as I was modifying my garage wall so I could park easier.  My neighbor is a retired RAC patrol man and was there with his booster pack before I could find the manual.  After a quick boost all fired up and off we went to the shops.

However the message Low 12v Battery is not mentioned in the manual.  The problem with a Hybrid and a flat starter Battery is that you cannot move it. Had I been in my garage I would not have been able to get to the battery to do anything.  Headlights coming on on Auto and interior lights when door opened do not help as the battery dies before you have a chance to do anything, which is why I was lucky to be outside.

Neighbor says " you probably left a light on" or "bluetooth hunting" But the I noticed the segment display on my Dashcam was flashing Fat even when the ignition was OFF.  My Dashcam has two memory cards I have never formatted them which I guess is what Fat means.  It also has an OFF, ACC,ON switch ACC is power from IGN drive mode record only on is Drive and Park. I normally use it in ACC, which it was set to. When I switch off it says "See you" and powers down.  It also has a protection setting in firmware that powers down if the battery falls below 12.5v, so it should never drain the car battery.  Once I did a format from the camera all went back to normal and appears OK , I have sent off e-mails to Lukas  (who are normally very good) but I will monitor it very carefully from now on.  It could well have been in this mode for a while as I do not see the display when driving, its deliberately hidden by the mirror.  The Dashcam manual does say if "forced format" is intiated by the camera it is in Standby Mode.

I will keep you all up to date.
