Interior Lights

Hi,

Have been driving a 2013 Auris 1.3 litre for a month or so now.

Generally liking it, although have noticed a couple of times that sometimes the interior lights (rear seats) seem to stay on when exiting the car (long past what would be expected). Doesn't seem to be any reason for it.

Is this a known/common problem or if not any suggestions as to what to do?

The interior lights have what is called theatre dimming ie the lights dim down gradually. They don't go off immediately, say when closing the door. Lots of cars have it these days.

20 minutes? Sheesh, that's a bit much. Do the lights extinguish more rapidly when you lock the car using the remote?

the problem is they don't go off.   couple nights ago the wife spent about 15 minutes trying to turn them off.

If it is a 2013 UK model, it will still be under the new car warranty - book it into a dealer.

I think the computer "says no" after about 20 minutes to preserve the 12v Battery

I agree that it sounds as though you have a light that has been switched on at the light. Not a door switch otherwise it would be all the interior lights.

  • 1 month later...

Had this in verso. A small squirt of wd40 into the door switch and worked it in by pressing it in out for a minute solved the problem.
