My Little Dent

Ok, here are a few pics of the dent I told you all about in my rear bumper.... the worst part is just below the numberplate. There is also a slight bump on the bit of the bumper above that, but its not as noticeable as the other one.

I reversed into a lamp post at about 5mph doing a 3 point turn in the narrowest street in the world - anyway hit said lampost and Karis came off worse!

My bro reckons it cant be fixed and has caused more damage than we thought as its probably weakened the rear bumper as its in the tough part. So if I get shunted from behind, even at slow speed, he reckons it wont handle it as well as if it were perfect...

Do i need a new rear bumper or can it be fixed - I know its hard to tell when you cant see it in the flesh, so to speak....

Just any opinions or suggestions really!

This is it face on, just under the rear reg plate. Its about 50mm deep and about an inch long downwards

This is from a slightly upwards angle - I'm no David Bailey though!

This is it slightly from the side, you can see that there is a little bump on the top of the bumper too but its not as prominent as the bottom bit...

Apols for the flithiness of my car - it sits below a tree so I get all the tree stuff fall onto it, making it messy! :ffs:

I've got a similar dent due to the previous "woman!" owner. Although not as bad as that. Mines not noticable unless u know about it.

Any decent bodyshop will be able to fix that with a little heat

but it will need painted and filled too

I take it is a plastic bumper on the yaris?

I think the top bits plastic but that bottom bit is metal.... ??

yep i remember now, the bottom is metal.

Still repairable though, but might be easier to replace the metal part

It's not as easy as you think to fix...

I had a similar dent before the big crunch...

best to just replace the bumper unless you can get it fixed very competently by a skilled guy

I used to work in a bodyshop and ive seen plastic bumpers damaged

worse than this repaired perfectly.

Your right about it not being an easy job but

as long as its a decent repairer it should work out fine and much cheaper than a new bumper.

So you reckon about £50 then viper?

Thats ok, better than I thought!

Like I said its not so bad, if you dont look for it, you cant see it!

So once I get some cash together I'll get it sorted then...

Oh dear that looks bad. Your best bet is to get it repaired by a pro. If you want your pride and joy looking bling again

Looks like a possible new bumper to me, but I'm not an expert! Why dont you pop into Toyota and get their opinion? Plus an idea of some prices too?
