Front Wheel Arch Liner Clips - How to Get Them Out

There are at least four clips on the front wheel arch liner of our Auris that look like the ones in these pictures. Two of the clips have self tapping screws installed, two have none.

There wasn't much on google as to how best to remove them, apart from the suggestions of pulling them hard or cutting them off.

So, if you cut a credit card (one you don't use much) to have a 'U' shape as picture 4, slide it behind the clip, and move one of the barely visible plastic crescents that sit just inside the hole, towards the centre of the hole with a small jewellers screwdriver or something spikey, whilst pulling the clip with the credit card (a Tesco Clubcard will also work here, it really doesn't matter), the clip will come out.

The clip that had had a screw up it was much tighter in its socket, and needed much more patience and jiggling about to get it out.

Hopefully, seeing what the clip looks like out of the car will help you figure it out, should you decide to see what is behind the wheel arch for whatever reason (e.g. dent removal, curiosity etc.).

If all this fails, the part number for this is 161027-000979 and it's available for £1.53 each, IIRC.
