Glow plug relay?

Hi, after some advice please!!

I have a toyota corolla verso, diesel on a 56 plate, the car drives as sweet as a nut, once warm... starts first time every time. The issue is I can't seem to locate my glow plug relay... struggling to find exactly where it is. I'm having problems starting when cold, so would like to take it out so I can test it, I've replaced, Battery and glow plugs but still the same.

Thanks Danny.

Disclaimer: I live in Norway, so my car has the steering wheel on the left side, things might be different on a RHD car.

I found my glow plug relay behind the air filter box, but only after I removed the entire box (top and bottom) during a diesel filter job.

Best of luck! :-)

Hello,

Sorry to do this sound like a similar problem I have got, has the Battery tested nothing wrong with it, haven done the glow plugs yet, but is it worth doing this as well as the relay. my generally start fine, just a couple of time jest turn and turns and turns over but no go. I have a verso 2007 2.2D, dose this sound like the same issue?

@ Danny,

My experience of 2 previous diesel cars (not Toyota), was to check the glowplugs if difficult cold starting, and replace as required, but you've already done that .  Rather than search for the relay, if you have a multimeter, then I suggest it might be easier for you apply it (on, say, the 20 volt setting) across from the glowplugs feed cable/busbar, to earth, and go through the usual car start sequence.  Assuming the engine's cold, then I'd expect to see 10-12 volts when the relay is in operation.  If you get no voltage, then as you say, time to locate said relay.

@ Dave,

I'd always suspect the glowplugs before the glowplugs relay.  Glowplugs tend to be consumables.
