I want to replace the original radio with an Alpine or Pioneer. I have to look for some adapter or can be connected to the original cables?
Thank you.

You can buy a harness wiring adapter which is just plug in. Not cutting of cables. Autoleads cable PC2-17-4 or Connects2 CT20TY01. Standard across all recent Toyotas.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p4712.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xtoyota+iq+audio+wiring+adapter.TRS0&_nkw=toyota+iq+audio+wiring+adapter&_sacat=0

A little searching around will help you find what you need to change the stereo. You need other parts!

From what I have read about the IQ, you need a facia adaptor to accommodate the new audio unit. Also if the replacement unit supports steering wheel control, then you need adaptor cables for that. The IQ has an unusual dashboard compared to most other cars.

Here is a post you might like to read: -

You may need to contact an owner of an IQ or ICE specialist, who has changed the radio, as I don't personal own an IQ.

Good luck.

I know the problems.
I install a radio 1 din and edit the dashboard.
Thank you.

Right, Where do I begin...

Changing the standard radio in the iQ is a real pain in the butt but it can be done.

I started with another radio housing from a scrap car and modified it to suit my requirements. There is a bit more detail on this page....
http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/134890-an-iq-called-toya/?page=7

The adaptor cables I bought were from Connects2 and was the CTSTY001 version and I bought the Pioneer cable to go from this to the head unit as I used a Pioneer brand radio. All works great but you do loose the small digital display but that is a small thing really.

You had seen your work, I also asked you ..
The cable Autoleads PC2-17-4 comes to me tomorrow.
For now I have to content myself with the new Speakers!
My adapter does not have the function commands to the steering wheel

If I buy Connects2 and was the CTSTY001 just connect everything to your stereo and steering wheel controls also work?
I do not need anything else right?

The version 1.2 is the same?

Thinking about it a bit more I bought the Connects2 CTSTY001.2 I think. Not sure what the .2 denotes on the end but it's specified as being suitable for various Toyota vehicles although the iQ isn't mentioned.

You then need to buy a patch cable that goes from the black box in the Connects2 kit to the back of the head unit. This will change depending on the make of the new radio unit but mine was a Pioneer and it uses what looks like a small headphone socket.

With this all connected everything worked as before on the steering wheel controls and no need to cut any wires in the original car wiring loom.

Craig.

Hi,

Finally arrived Connects2 CTSTY001.2, I doubt if it is a clone because it does not have the sticker "Connects2"

Nice one. Bit different than my version but sits very well.

Good to see there are now two iQ's in the world with different radios fitted.

For now use a glass antenna, it seems to work.
Thank you.

The ".2" on the Connects2 CTSTY001.2 denotes that it supports the HF button(s) on the steeringwheel...IF the car is equipped with it, that is.
