Can I make my own premium fuel with washing up liquid?

Honest John was asked the following question on 1st December -

"Premium diesel is about 70p more per gallon and one of the additives used to formulate it is detergent. Would it be a good idea to add washing up liquid to standard diesel?"

The response was, perhaps unsurprisingly, "Definitely not."

Fairy nuff. The bubbles probably won't get past the emissions testing.

Don't think the emissions would be improved with the lemon scent either :laugh:

But it says on the adverts fairy will last twice as long, and adverts don't lie, so surely it'll double your fuel economy?
