Verso 1.6 starting issue

Hey guys, I have a 2006 corolla verso 1.6 petrol. recently suffered poor starting, seemed to be less and less power available at each startup. felt like I would only get one turn out of it. once running it was ok.

Replaced the Battery with new one and problem slowly reappeared over 2 days. now convinced that the alternator was fsiling so fitted a new one. this solved things for several days till this morning. put key in pressed start all right lights come on but no turn over at all. No fault codes displayed. electrical jjjhhhhhh noise in cab on pressing start. Head under bonnet, no clicking on pressing start but soft electrical whine from area of starter motor. Headlights nice and bright so feel new Battery is ok.

Any ideas or do I just bite the bullet and fit a new starter motor, thanks in anticipation

It does sound like your starter but check for something draining the Battery first.  With a charged Battery, and your ignition and other lights etc all switched off - take off the neg Battery terminal and spark it back against the battery connection.  At most you should get a very weak puny spark, but probably only a very light click, if you get anything bigger then you have something draining it.
