1NR-FE Valve Cover Replacement.

I couldn't wait any longer so I replaced the valve cover and didn't bother using a torque wrench. I just worked from centre bolts and worked outwards in a criss-cross pattern. The wiring loom was a bit of struggle but nothing too complicating.

PITA, should check those part numbers more carefully . Cost cutting from Toyota, one less bolt on post 05/2010 models!

Here's the old valve cover, oil was leaking from cam solenoid ports. If I had the time and more importantly the luxury of working off road then I could have repaired the old valve cover and saved £279. On closer inspection It is possible to fill the gap (aluminium -to- seal) with RTV gasket.

I tried to pull the seal (left side), but seem to be pressed in

Hey guys I wanna do this but I'm feeling silly. The electric harness is in there so tight. If anyone could post a how to or short video how to get the cover off, would be great.

If you're unsure, you can always pay 3-4 euros for access to documentation on Toyota-tech.eu (that's for 1 hour, day is maybe 10 eur)

It's basically the same thing technicians that work on cars use.

You can then print and save all the instructions. It's all step by step, screw by screw, nicely drawn and pointed out.

Better than a video as it's pointed out on all drawings, and you can easily identify where all goes.
