Hi, I have a 2005 Corolla with 40,000 miles on the clock. Is it okay to use STP Oil Treatment in the engine?

I would have thought a good quality engine oil would be sufficient. However, its your choice - if you think it may be beneficial, then use it.

Hi you haven't explained why you want to use a stp oil treatment on an engine that's only covered 40k ?.its hard to advise without more info on engine oil change intervals .

The recommended service intervals (including oil change) will be 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever occurs first. However as the car is 12 years old with 40,000 miles, that may not have been the case. VVTi engines up to mid-2005 could suffer oil consumption issues ...

I change the oil and filter every six months, and don't need any topping up. But some people say that STP would make the oil too thick.

If it isn't using oil, I would just stay with a good quality engine oil of the correct grade (5W-30 meeting API SL, SM or SN).
