Toyota Aygo - Rust Bubbles on Roof

Hi there,

Just joined this forum and looking for a bit of advice!

Bought a second hand 11 reg toyota in june last year good as new.

Shortly after purchase found a tiny tiny bubble on roof of the car which grew until it cracked revealing rust, and this is now popping up in other places (where the roof meets the front windscreen).

I have been in dialogue with toyota for about 3 months now about it potentially being covered under my 1 year warranty but to be honest have just been messed around and passed around different people and it feels like they just do not care.

Has as anyone has this problem before/what have you done to resolve it?

Cheers,

Lewys

This will have to be between the dealer & you. Toyota new cars have a 3 year warranty for paint so as your car is older than that it's no longer covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Hello Lewys - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

As Heidfirst has said the paintwork warranty covers manufacturing defects for three years from first registration. The 12 year anti-corrosion warranty covers against rust perforation of sheet metal body panels due to a manufacturing defect. Both are common to the majority of car manufacturers

As you say you have a 1 year warranty, that would be a used car warranty which covers the mechanicals, and not the bodywork or paintwork.

I would imagine the damage is the result of stone chipping. Your best course of action would be to approach the dealer you purchased the car from and ask for help with the issue.

Moved to the Aygo club.
