I am confused. Can someone tell me what the fluid reservoir above the clutch actuator on my 2009 Yaris with mmt is used for? I know it is filled with Dot 3 fluid.

Hello Cedric - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

Moved to the Yaris club.

Its the fluid reservoir for the concentric slave cylinder type clutch release bearing, the MMT is a manual gearbox with a pump that moves the clutch in/out and actuators that shift gears

Thank you, Devon Aygo. The Aygo gearbox seem to differ from the Yaris in that respect. Is that so? Do you know where I can get some info on the Yaris mmt gearbox? I would appreciate that.

Exactly the same principle however the Aygo gearbox has a conventional clutch release bearing moved with a lever rather than hydraulics like the Yaris so the Aygo has a second actuator instead of a pump
