I have a Toyota Auris 2014 1.6 vvti, and on the key fob there are 3 buttons, 1 for locking, 1 for unlocking, and the middle button has a boot( hatchback) sign on it, The hatch button doesn't do anything, I thought this was for remotely opening the hatchback door, but this doesn't seem to be the case, can anyone enlighten me on this please, and what it's supposed to do?

The fob for our previous and current i20's are similar. To unlock the boot one has to keep the hatch button depressed for a few seconds until the hatch unlocks.
