Car will not start after battery replaced

Hello all,

My better half has a 08 auris 1.6 petrol. She believes she left her lights on all day leaving the Battery flat.  Due to the age of the flat Battery I purchased a replacement and fitted. However the car will not start. Help!

 

Symptoms so far;

Battery voltage on the new battery is 12.6v

When opening the car via remote key fob, the indicators flash, but no central locking.

When the door opens, I get some dash lights and the ignition indicator light is lit.

When I close the door all lights are out in the cabin.

When I insert key to position 1 or 2, nothing happens, with or without the clutch pedal engaged.

Car will not start.

 

Stuff I tried;

Replacement battery, ensuring terminals are correctly matched to the leads.

Swapped all fuses in the engine bay fuse box - no effect.

 

Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried charging the Battery first, and then fitting it?

The voltage on the new Battery seemed good @ 12.6v so didn't see the need. I'll give it  a charge to see if it helps.

If all the dash warning light s come on and nothing happens, I wonder if it is the dreaded Toyota ignition switch? I had this with my old Avensis and found out it was a known issue.

Changing it was okay on the Avensis, but I cannot comment on Auris. Also the clutch switch is a possibility.

To add some more info, when the door is open the bash has the door open graphic displayed on the dash. However when the door is closed nothing is shown on the dash with or without key in ignition.

Also tried the spare key, but did not work.

I also note the central locking does not work at all.
