Car is importing wrong contacts into the phonebook

Hi..I have just got the car and I have tried in vain to get it to import the correct phone contacts. It seems to be selective about which contacts it imports from my phone. It seems to import the older contacts but leaves out the ones I really need like those for my family.  I have 250 most current contacts on my Samsung s5 (stored on the device). I have about 2500 as gmail contacts. I have my daughter's phone number saved on both (as a favourite on my phone) but the car does not import it. I have added her as a favourite in the car's system but it still will not recognise her when I ask it to call her using voice recognition (the car says the contact does not exist). Basically the car seems to be importing many but not all of the google contacts. I am confused as toyota customer support told me the car uses the device contacts.  I have tried deleting the pairing and redoing it. I have tried refreshing the phonebook but the car stubbornly refuses to just import the 250 on my phone. Any help would be much appreciated as this is driving me potty. Maybe it is something to do with my  phone that I have done wrong? Thanks in advance. :)

are your contacts split between sim & phone memory as it may be importing from only one location.

No..the SIM has 1 contact in it (my own details). The device has 250. The car is showing loads of contacts, most of which are not on either the device or the SIM. Thanks for the suggestion though. :)
