Hi Folks,

I mentioned a couple of weeks back that my Aygo had been booked in for it's MOT and that I had asked my trusty local independant garage to underseal it whilst it was in for it's test.  Well, I'm pleased to say that the little Aygo sailed through and when they where looking underneath, said that for a four year old car, it was in great nick....Happy Days! 

They did as I asked and completely undersealed the floorpan and the rear arches which I am pleased about as our little cars only seem to have a coat of primer to protect them against all that the UK roads throw up at them and in my book (To be honest, It's an "Old School" book) that's not enough.

So, I have my 12 months ticket and am a lot happier knowing that the hidden bits are protected.....The cost of all this?.....Including the Test Fee, £132.60.....Like I say, Happy Days!

Curious about the underseal, did you get the whole underside of the car sealed, or just various parts?

Plus did they clean it properly underneath? Or was clean enough good enough?

Hi Michael.

I took the car in yesterday afternoon so that they could jet wash under it, let it dry and wire brush it before it went in for it's test this morning and for them to underseal it.  They undersealed the whole floorpan and the rear arches...I know that the back bumper is plastic but they even put some Stone Chip behind that so that it would match in and they've done a really good job.  It's a job that anybody could do at home on a nice day but it's much easier to get it up on a ramp so that you can actually see what you're doing.

It's something that I'd recommend to anybody that is thinking of keeping an Aygo for a few years as, like I say, the floorpan is only painted with primer.
