Avensis Petrol MPG

70mile commute today in my 2004 Avensis 2.0 (1AZ-FSE) - 47mpg

Driving to Nottinghamshire to Surrey three times a year I have tried to improve my mpg. I had a 56mpg average for the 290 to 300 mile trip which got me thinking was 60 mpg possible.

Yesterday I returned and this time I cracked it. No hold up around Heathrow on Friday made it possible I think. I usually get caught in traffic so the average suffers.

Set tyre pressures to the highest figure recommended in the handbook. Took junk out of the car I didn't need. Put 23 litres of regular unleaded in and off I went, gently.

was a special effort but no fiddling. 

So 60mpg from 1998 Avensis 1.8 lean burn.
