Driver Door wont open with key

4 posts in this topic

Hi,

i Want help from anyone who can.

I have a toyota auris 2008. I normally use remote to lock and unlock doors, and then uses the key to start the engine.

i got a problem last time with battery down. As such i couldnot unlock the car with remote.

But i tried to open the driver door with the same key but it wont open.it wont even turn a little bit.

How can i unlock the door using the key?

Thanks

Could try a specialist lock lubricant on the door lock.

Hi Frostyball,

I did try using WD 40 in the door lock but still nothing. It still doesn't move a bit.

Is there some kind of security  inside the door to lock/unlock the mechanism?

Thanks

Yeah, my Yaris had this issue too :(

I try and use the lock now and then to keep it loose but the damage has been done.

I managed to free mine up with some WD40 in the lock, and on the key, and then putting the key in the lock and wiggling it until it turned, but the next day it was even worse.

Next I tried electrical switch cleaner - This seemed to help a bit too, but unlike the WD40 it's not supposed to leave any residue so shouldn't gum up the lock with any more oil; So far it seems to have worked - It's not perfect, and still takes a bit of wiggling, but I can at least open my door with the key now!
