Hi All

As I am new to this site, just wondered if anyone can offer me some advice on a Rav 4 XT3 d4d stepper motor? Is it a separate part to the turbo or do I have to get both units? Had a health check on my motor & this is one of the faults that came up with an astronomical quote for replacement.  Looking on the engine layout on this forum, the stepper motor looks like a separate unit  - any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

This is a very common problem. I thought the step motor was related to the turbo boost valve Other's on here will know better. I have same problem and the latest opinion I have been given is that the turbo needs cleaned internally as it gets clogged with carbon. And there is a gate valve within the turbo which needs to be able to move freely, I do not know if there is any adjustment which can be done to this valve or that its maybe more that it needs to be free from carbon to operate properly. Good luck solving ur problem and if u do manage to solve it let us know. The p1251 error code is well covered on this forum for more info.
