Avalon AC problems

I have a 2012 Toyota Avalon with 60K miles. The AC is working erratically. When the engine is cold the AC cools real well. When goes to 60 mph occasionally the cooling stop. Someone told me that this will be probably due to a sensor or relay attached to the AC system. Others said that this is due to a sensor that goes inside the compressor ???????? Any idea what is the root of this problem.

Note: I am afraid to go to a dealer to diagnose the problem because the charge will be outrageous. I live in USA

Thanks for your prompt reply.
