The second generation Aygo has two tyre sizes - the X has 165/65/R14, and the X-play and above has 165/60/R15.

The X-cite uses the 15 inch tyres.

I shopped around but getting a Continental was not easy , no where had them in stock

had to use kwik fit ....

i had Goodyear duragrip on my last car , great tyres

Yes - that is the standard size for 15 inch wheels

I'll be treating Rosie to a new set of all season tyres later on in the year, with the 15 inch tyres I'm expecting to pay at least £230 for 4 of them which makes it £57 a tyre. Mytyres always have good prices.

I've got 4 x Goodyear Vector 4seasons Gen-2 tyres on mine, and they are far better than the Continentals. Quieter and very grippy, especially in the wet. Don't know about anyone else, but I found the continentals to be pants in the wet, even when new.

Anyway, there's also peace of mind if the white stuff decides to show later this year.

Might look to change mine to those before the weather changes if they are that good   , Not sure they do 15 inch rim though , I looked but can't find them

living in the north East we get horrid weather most of the time so will be a good investment

Try tyre shopper you normally get some good discount on tyre from them online and then they fit them at a national tyre garages. I have had many tyres from them it's cheaper than getting them straight from the garage for the same tyre.

Just to add about all season tyres. My second choice was Vredestein Quatrac 5's, which it looks like you can buy in 165\65\15 size.

I switched to all season tyres on my cars around 8 years ago and haven't looked back since. With our variable weather here in the north east, it makes for much safer driving.

IIRC, I bought my Goodyear Vectors from Kwik Fit for £240 fitted.

I think those were the ones I was looking at (Vredestein Quatrac 5's)

Hi David,

I wonder if you could give me a bit of info on the Goodyear Vectors that you have fitted to your Aygo, please, as I've been looking into fitting them on mine for a couple of months now.

I was thinking of going up in size to 15 inch alloys with a wider tyre, to get more grip but the more I looked into the Goodyear, the more I thought that sticking with the 14 inch 6 spoke alloys that are fitted to the "Fire" and fitting a set of Vectors onto them, might be the answer.  Did you stay with the standard 155/65/14 tyres or go for something a bit wider (Say, 165/60/14 or even wider) to get more rubber on the road?

You say that you've never looked back since fitting all season tyres and as us northern folk can get four seasons in one day, it struck a cord with me, in that I was thinking the same.....The only thing is that I don't know anybody that has fitted these to an Aygo/107/C1, all I know is that they seem to be sticky, very quiet and good at getting rid of the wet stuff.  The standard 155/65/14 seems to come in at about £63 a pop, so just over £250 (or £300 for 5) for a set is a bit more than a standard tyre but seems to be worth the extra money, to me.....The fact that they also look good is a bonus!

To me, good tyres make a car and as they last for a few years are just about the most important thing that you can fit so I would be interested in your views on them.

Many thanks in advance and all the best.

Positives:

  • Quieter than the Continentals
  • Very grippy on wet surfaces
  • Good through standing water (no aquaplaning)
  • Good on dry surfaces
  • Keep their pressure over many weeks

Negatives:

  • Can be a bit squealy when driven enthusiastically on dry surfaces
  • Slightly less precise than the Continentals (hardly noticeable though)

Not tried on snow yet, but feeling positive about their performance on the white stuff.

Many thanks, David, that's all I need to know.

Talking of being good in the wet, the amount of rain we've had today in Lancashire makes me think that I should trade the Aygo in for an Ark!!

Thanks again and all the best!

All season convert here too.

switched from ecocontact 3  to Vredestein Quatrac Lite about 2 and a half years ago.
bought  4  from I think it was Tyre Leader and got them delevered to the house.
Kept them in the garage until the car was serviced a few months later by the local Toyota dealer who fitted the 4 for £40

Never had an issue with the Quatrac Lites and they are quite a bit quieter and grip better in the cold+wet than the ecocontact 3's

Last summer the the Quatrac Lites on the front were down to about 4mm in 18K miles so began to watch the prices.
Found that rezulteo-tyres.co.uk  was useful for price watching.

A great source of tyre reviews is tyrereviews.co.uk
That site would keep a tyre nerd busy for hours

ended up getting a pair of Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Gen2 from Kwit Fit in Nov for £127 all in.
The Vector's were put on the rear with old rears going on the front.

The Aygo is even quieter now.

The Quatrac Lites now on the front are at 5mm so should last this winter.
Intend to replace these with another pair of Vectors.

The wifes car currently has Dunlop Sport BluResponse on it and they are wearing extremely well.
When the time comes they'll be replaced with either Michelin CrossClimate+  or the Vectors.
There's a pair of SnowSocks in the boot in case she gets cought in snow before then.
Her previous car had the old version of the Hankook all season for 5 odd years.
These were not to bad, bit noisy though.

One of the good things with the EU tyre lables, you can compaire the noise ratings easly!
Quite important in my view with the limited sound insulation in the MK1 aygo's

Many thanks, David, actually both Davids ( @fordulike and @Micra2Aygo ) for some really helpful, "Hands on" advice.  It looks like the Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons are the way to go.  Did you both stay with the standard 155/65/14 size, by the way?

Many thanks for your great advice, it's really helpful.

All the best:smile:

Vredestein Quatrac 5. Although they don't rate as highly as the Goodyear Vectors, IMHO, in our changeable weather, any good all season tyre would be safer than a dedicated Summer tyre. I've had Bridgestome A001's too, though not sure if they do it in your wheel size.

My advice is to research, research and research again before buying tyres. Oh, and replace all four with the same. Mixed tyres makes for unpredictable handling, especially in bad weather.

Standard for me, no point in going any bigger, unless you like to drive like a hooligan

mytyres  lists 7 in your size,  with 3 in the H speed rating.

If it was me,  I would go for the Vredestein  first with the Pirelli second.  Both do well in the reviews.

Standard 155/65/14  for me.  No reason to change and it keeps the insurance happy!

Many thanks @fordulike and @Micra2Aygo I was hoping that you had both stuck with the original size (My hooligan driving days are a long way behind me  ) but I thought that it was worth asking, just in case.

Us Northerners, whether we're from Lancashire, Tyne and Wear or the wonderful Kingdom of Fife (The best Fish and Chips in the world are from Anstruther....In my opinion, of course!  ) seem to get a fair bit of weather and most of it is wet, so these tyres have to be the way forward.

Thanks again for your input and advice, Guys...It's been a huge help and your time is much appreciated.

All the best!

Happy to help Agent Orange.    And yes the Anstruther chip shop is rather good,  I find funny watching the seagulls "escort" people you back to their car in hope you throw something their way.  Then you realise,  its your turn next
