Rear Dashcam

I was wondering if there might be any way to incorporate the Reversing Camera into some sort of Rear View Dashcam.  It seems a pity to have the technology there & not make full use of it.

Does anyone know if this is possible?  If so, are there any kits or anything available?

Hi Jerry.

First of all welcome to this club.

A very good question may I say.

First of all I haven't a clue but there's a shop near me that does all fancy electrical work, boy racers dream shop if you like and if they don't know the answer to your question then I don't know anyone else that is likely to know.

Below is a link to the shop, it's up to you if you want to be open with them about where you live and just want some free advise or play it how you choose to.

Do let us all know how you got on.

Mike.

Unfortunately, I'm in Southampton, and Essex is a bit far.

To be honest, I'm surprised the Dashcam option wasn't included in the original design spec.  The overall view through the camera is very impressive.

Hi Jerry.

I didn't really mean you coming to Essex but just to phone the shop and ask the guys there if it's possible. They are very friendly and I am sure they won't mind you picking their brains for free, it's worth a phone call I felt as like I say they are good men and easy to chat to.

Mike.

Gave Pulse a call - they don't know of anything, or even if it's possible.

Hi Jerry, well if they don't know of anything I think your good idea isn't going to happen but thanks for letting us all know. Mike.

You would need a video splitter - one to go to the car for the reverse camera, and one to a recording unit. You might also need to alter the power as it may only be powered in reverse, normally.

I like your thinking though!
