In car DVD

I have just bought a 2008, Corolla Verso. It comes with a DVD player in the glove box and 2 screens in the rear head rests. When I put a DVD in the player it shows up on the screens. Do I need a remote control to actually play the disc, as pressing the play button doesn't seem to do anything. Also, I assume I need headphones to listen to it, but I can't see a headphone port on the screens. Do I need wireless headphones. Toyota branded or would any make do? Thank in anticipation Paul
