Aygo 2012 with auto trans. Light on dash, wont turn over

I have a 2012 Toyota aygofire. Auto MMT transmission The car was driving fine yesterday. Today it wouldn't turn over. The dash lights come on and the Transmission light comes on on the dash. I am pressing the foot break to start as per normal. The gear shift in in N. Any ideas?. Left it went back to it put in just start then tried but nothing.  The gear knob is on N.

I'm clutching at straws here, but I should imagine that the selection lever has a micro switch in the N position, that lets the car know it's in neutral. Have you tried moving the selector up and down its range, before finally selecting N, to see if the switch is a bit dodgy?

Another clutch at straws here. If the foot brake switch circuit is incorporated in this system too, then check that all the brake lights work when the pedal is depressed.
