What do you reckon folks??? you can pick up a 4.2 quattro for about 5K now.. I need a decent "businesslike" car...

I'm picturing it in black, with tints dropped on chrome :D

I`ve always rated audis. The only thing with the A8 is size. A6 much better size wise. But THAT engine. WHHOOOOOOOO. Lurve it.

I'm not worried about size.. if I'm going saloon, I'll do it properly.. the other great thing is nothing devalues as mush as "last model top of the range saloon" where as the mid sized ones of the same ages actually cost more!!!

I remember my dad had one for 2 weeks ona trial when he was duea new car.. I always said he should have got that.. instead he got a boring S class merc :(

Can't go wrong with an Audi....they are superb.

If you're in any doubt about the A8 though, I suggest you get your ***** down to blockbusters and rent Ronin. Should do the trick

Almost bought a 4.2 quattro myself but got the LS400 instead.

Nice cars, sporty for the size but not a patch on the Lexus.

The LS400 is much more comfortable and economical. Also a LOT more room. Cheaper insurance, jap build quality and RWD :D

Also remember i got my 96 N LS400 with 105k (if i remember correctly) for £4800 and it was mint

But all in all i love the 4.2 quattro a8. You cant go far wrong but remember charlie its an audi, so parts are REALLY pricey. Also they design the engine to be worked on by audi dealers only so dont be expecting to do anything too big yourself.

Earlier 4.2's had a headgasket problem so keep your eyes open, also the diffs are prone to leaking as are the shocks (they dont last long because of the weight they carry).

From my experiance parts for my parents mercedes are no more epxensive then prices for my import toyotas....

I did;n tkno the engine was made to be hard to work on though!!! Don't ya just hate that!!!
