Ok I Think Im In Trouble?!?!

Hi all,

Now, im normally a slow driver as the seo aint quick ;) and i prefer cruising to the racing element of modding but me being a silly boy was in a rush to get to Ipswich for my sis who needed me :( . And during my 1hr30min journey (down the A140 <_< ) from Norwich to Ipswich, i think i made 2 boo boos. :crybaby:

Firstly, on a bridge on the dal carrigeway there was a mobile van parked on the bridge and was doing anywhere between 70-77mph when i realised that there was the van and then pulled into the inside lane and slowed to less that 70mph. :crybaby:

I think that got me as i was kicking myself all the way home until a annoying clio driver cuts me up and speeds off on a dual carrage way i was turning onto :ffs: . I then speed up to just over 80mph to show the chappy i wasnt best please with him when he slams on the brakes in front of me, swerves all over the road only for me to see a copper hidden up a side road onto the dual carrige way hidden with a mobile laser gun as i pass him avoiding his car. :help:

What is the most likely penalty that i will get for the first inccident and should i expect anything for the second one???

:help::help::help:

Now ontop of everything that happened today i feel like i really should have stayed in bed and lost my car keys but nevermind.

:crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

I really cant be affording any mishaps like this and if i do get anything i think that i may have to pull the car off the raod becuase the insurance will go up and i wont be able to pay it as im at uni.

Grrrr, i wana replay this day so so much.

:help::crybaby: :( :crybaby::help:

With any luck you'll be OK. Don't forget your speedo is probably reading 5mph fast anyway so you wont have been going as fast as you thought. I think in theory they are supposed to allow for a 10 percent speedo error too, so (in theory) you should be able to do 77mph before you get done, at that speed your speedo will most likely be telling you that you're doing almost 85.

Guess the next 14 days will be nerve racking though, ------------good luck.

dual carriageways are 70mph if its national speed limit....

i wouldnt worry as 77mph is actually 73 ish and they allow for a 10%speedo error so you have to be doing 77, which you wasnt.

as the for the gun, doubtful as usally they follow you, and again, 80moh is about 75, which they are not bothered about, they are more interested in the muppets doing 100...

Still gonna be a nerveracking 14 days tho :eek:

Cheers

matt

Dual carrigeways are only a 70mph speed limit if there is a central barrier! Otherwise it is 60mph! I found that out on my theory test!

You maybe lucky you may not! Just wait and see!

But the max your gonna get in the worst situation poss is 6 points and £120 fine! (thats if you got caught on both!)

Good luck buddy!

I wouldnt worry about the first one m8.

As other ppl have said, 77mph is just under the amout they do U for. (I think its actually 10% + 2mph so it should be 79). The speed limit on a dual carrageway is 70mph.

Not sure about the 80mph one tho dude! U could B lucky and the copper caught the kn*b in the Clio and not U! :thumbsup:

That'd serve him right for cutting U up!

For the 2nd laser gun, I'm pretty sure if you were caught they would have other coppers down the road to pull you over - thats what happened to me :censor:

They do it all the time in Iford where i live, and they have 2 bikes and a car hidden down a side road.

I dont think they can prove who was driving otherwise

If you do get anything through you can try to fight it. As to see photo's firstly. And then a log for the calibration tests of the laser gun used (must be calibrated that day). Also a log of the police officers using it at that time/day (must be at least 2 officers operating one gun)... and there notebook for the use of the gun.

Also if it was raining then its null and void - and if it was i doubt you'd get anything through anyway.

Just be a complete pain in the ****. You can also also get a soliciter to write a covering letter to say that you recognize the offence but do not know who was driving - i cant remeber completely but I think although the speeding notice says YOU MUST... something or other in big letters it isnt required by law.

You may get lucky. I was once doing 60 on a clear, barriered, dual carridgeway - with a stupid speed limit of 40. I saw the speed van at the end of the road and thought, ****! But nothing ever came through.

Good luck!

I got zapped by a laser .. but due to my plate location at the time he tried 2 or 3 times (gotta love the snooper) .. I think also cause if the angles on my car he didn't get a good reading ..

Stelth fighter stylie .. :thumbsup:

I got caught a few years ago driving a company corsa - you probably couldnt get a better reading off that unless you were driving a camper van!!! :lol:

I am in a similar situation as of today :(

But not too worried as I was only doing 75-ish (on the clock) when I spotted the van on a bridge on the A46 in Warwickshire. I think they will only do something if you were doing 80 or above. I didn't bother slowing down as I figuered if he got me then it was too late already...

I will just sit back and see what Mr. Postie delivers in the next couple of weeks <_<

but if they find out, they will fine you or tow the car away depending on how serious the offence is.
