I've just had an insurance quote and I was told that only alloy wheels are being insured on all uk insurance companies. They won't insure for an exhaust and body kits.

Does anyone know anything about this?

i heard something about that too, they really dont seem to like exhaust systems, my mate got quote on his corsa which was modded, but they wouldnt accept the exhaust system even tho he had alloys etc

I've only got about 6/7 months left till I get my first years no claims, now i'll have to change insurance companies just to modify my car

I doubt that very much.. There would be a huge chunk of the market lost.. Most insurance companies have dedicated lines for modded cars these days too. :)

I just informed my insurance company of my mods.. all i was asked was if the alloys had locking nuts... nothing was said about the body kit.

haha I've never heard of that, the insurance company I work for has cars on policies which are modified big time!!

Just shop around mate, and there aint no use in changing companies when you are 6/7 months into your policy as you wont get any NCB from it..I'd stay put til your 12 months are up..I know you'll have to delay the modding but it makes more sense to me.

Thats what I thought, as I rang elephant, they won't insure a car with an induction kit but never mentioned anything about not insuring modded cars.
