:help::help::help:

Recently, when I drive my celica, the "O/D OFF" light is always on.

What does that mean? What should I do to sort out the problem and let it go off??

Please help!!!!

Many thanks!!!

Thats mean overdrive on my car (auto) which allows you to keep the engine in 3rd gear rather than changing up to 4th. this button is very usful for driving up step hills.

Hope this helps

Sorry for my stupid question...

I just got my car these few days and am still trying to figure our what is what...

Back to the question, is it automatic switching on/off? or maunal controlled?

If it is manul, where the button is? How should I use it properly?

Since it is always on, no matter on a high way, up/down hill, normal road, I am a bit confused...

Please advice!

:)

Call me stupid...but isn't that meant to mean overdrive?

I didnt think they came with overdrive?

Am i confusing myself?

ok ss1 button layout as follows

manu and pwr both up = economy driving

manu up and pwr down = more powerful driving , hills and slopes etc

manu down , pwr up = for driving in snow as its locked when 2nd gear is selected, also this button pattern is to allow the driver to drive the car as you would a manual gearbox.also when in the d position having the buttons in this order will make gear changes less frequent.

if you also have a SMALL button on the gear selector if its in it means overdrive on ( sport light on the dash wont be lit ) better economy and quietness

when its out overdrive is off and the sport light on the dash will illuminate.for assending and decending steep slopes.

i have the ss1 ss2 and ss3 users manual so anymore questions i will try to help .

I'll ask the obvious first (please don't take offence), have you pushed the button on the back of the gear lever, this make the overdrive come off and on.

Heehee.. I guess I did push that button accidentally...

Now, I've engaged the O/D again, so the car should be running better now.

Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks a billion for your help and advice!! I really appreciate!!

I now know what those buttons for and how to use them properly.

Btw, I have another question about the light on the dash board.

There is orange/yellowish colour light on the left-hand corner of the dash board. It is in car shape and with something happening at the back (maybe wheels or lights, not sure what that is). Do you happen to know what that means?

Cheers!
