After changing the standard head unit I am getting a beeping noise from the dash after I turn the ignition off, does anyone know what is causing this.

thanx

If i turn the ignition on or off it doesn't do it, but when I put my cd player on and then turn the ignition off it beeps about 6 times.

It's a pioneer headunit

its the head unit thats beeping! its a feature on most headunits... it beeps if you cut off power to it without removing the (removable) fascia.

i think thats what you're referring to.

maybe a setting on the head unit can disable it?

That's a bit weird, if I leave the front on the cd player and turn the ignition off it beeps, if I take the front off then turn the ignition off it doesn't beep.

Lots of headunits are made like that... It's a security mechanism to remind you to take the front off when leaving the car so that it doesnt get spotted and nicked. !!!

Sony's do it... i know that, i think kenwood might too. There's a delay of about 3 secs from when you turn the ignition off to when the electrics actually go off... if you listen in a quiet place, you can hear them turn off. It's now that the players auxilliary power detects the fascia is on and beeps to remind you to take the front off. So a wait of 4/5secs is quite normal.

Yeah my Sony does it, its pretty good, 'cos I jump out the car and people walking by must think its an alarm triggering or sumthin! B)

Its like when you leave the lights on, it makes a noise.

The headunit is making a noise to remind you "Oi take me out, I dont wanna be nicked"

Most Headunits have them.
