Welcome to the TOC :)

My Aunt has a mk1 and uses it a great deal. She got it second hand and has not had any problems with it and loves it.

Hi Matt,

Just bought a RAV4 Mk1 for my wife, she loves it-haven't used it off road yet, but I like the precision build- although I am used to super quiet cars and the RAV4 is not that quiet.

Hi Matt

I just bought a mark 1, try and get a VX model as I think thats the highest spec,I have a 5 Door and it's pretty quick I believe the 3 door has GTi performance but I felt the shorter wheelbase gave more body roll than the 5 door.

Most seem to be high mileage so make sure the Timing belt has been changed at 63k or 5 years.

The VX form 98 on should have a 6 CD multi fitted under the passenger seat and all electrics, mirrors (heated), sunroof, air con and if your lucky (like I was:)) leather seats!

Mine does about 27 MPG in town and around 31 MPG longhaul.

Like most Toyotas factory alarm and immo are standard but I can only talk for my model.

Hope this helps.
