Green Gunk Growing On Car

Washed the car today and found a lot of green gunk growing around the headlights, taillights, window seals, indicators, boot etc and im wondering what can be done to get rid? Short of removing the headlights, indicators etc, is there anything i can spray at them to stop it growing.

The car wasn't washed much when mum was the sole user, but as i have started learning to drive, and recently passed ive been washing it when time permits so no doubt the lack of washing has lead to this. I can get pics up if you need me to.

Cheers.

Try using a bug/sap/tar (use a microfibre cloth) remover on it... lol could it be algae that's growing? That's strange not heard of that happening before.

A car that’s not washed on a regular basis will start to develop all sorts of growth on it!

I remember stories when British Leyland used to store cars in fields for months and months at a time. When they where picked up some had to have re-sprays due to ‘things’ growing from them

Maybe an anti fungal cleaner may help? Once it’s off a good wash and polish will protect the bodywork.

Check all rubber seals for any signs of disintergrated. We have a similar problem on our exec round the spoiler joins, and its due to the rubber membrane disintergrating and the algae growing from there. Just an idea :D

Jet wash will soon sort it... then jet wash monthly,.. that will keep it at bay

also park the car in sunlight and not under a tree

I'll give it a pressure wash then tomorrow, though ill go easy as i noticed patches on one of the panels (the one which was repaired due to mam driving into a gate  ) where paint is flaking away, mite need a respray. Perfect chance to colour code the bumpers and door handles though ;)

Go easy with the jet wash.... If you're not careful, you could force it into places you'll never get it out from or blast water round seals and stuff. The voice of experience here...

Got some algae eater trigger-spray which is great for zapping this stuff, readily available too.
