if you think i should change something.. please tell me..

as english is not my native language i may have errors here and there.. telling me bout them will be very appreciated:

Toyota LTD.

Japan

Customer Service Dept.

Dear sir/madm

My name is Noam Alon from Israel. This letter is designated to you (Toyota Japan) and not for Toyota Israel, so please, do not transfer this letter to them.

In June this year I bought a Toyota yaris T-sport from my local Toyota dealer, I also got the 3 year warranty.

We buy Toyotas since 1992 at home and in my business as well.

About a month ago, my brakes started to make a strange noise, I went to the authorized Toyota garage and asked them to change the brake pads. They did not. Instead, they sanded the edges of the pads making it smaller in width.

after that not only the noise didn’t go away, lack of pad contact made two ugly rust rings on the brake discs (photo 1 attached).

I went back to the garage, just to be told "it's ok".

Well , for me, IT'S NOT OK! There shouldn’t be any rust on the brake discs where the pad should make contact with the dis

c. Im familiar with other t-sport owners and car owners in general, I have never seen any discs rusty in that manner (photo 2-5 of other t-sport discs attached)

Its obviously because of the brake pad sanded down to a smaller width.

The Toyota "inspector" who checked my car, said its ok, but couldn’t find any car in the whole car lot to show me another car like that, he also told me those are you instructions.

Are Toyota japan's instruction are to sand down the original brake pads?

This method was used in the 70's with old car brakes.

This is what is wrong in short:

1) the noises from the brakes didn’t stop

2) two rust rings were formed on the brake discs

3) I had to lose 3 days work to go back and forth to the garage and inspector

4) the width of my brake pads is smaller hence less braking power

5) I find it hard to belive that Toyota japan will tell their dealers to sand down a brake pad if noise occurs. If those ARE the instructions Toyota gave the, they are not legal, as changing the surface size of a brake pad is illegal in our country.

6) lack of knowledge in my specific car model and the feeling I worth nothing to Toyota after I bought the car as the service I got here is horrible.

I am going to press charges against union motors LTD – the Toyota importer here in Israel as the wont deal with my problem.

I thought buying a Toyota is a smart buy, and I know from our last 10 toyotas, that the cars themselfes are great, but the service I got was horrible and I wont buy another Toyota that’s for sure.

Noam Alon

Car license number :

thats all..

what do you think?

i can understand your frustations mate but you might want to change wording of it a little. i know when i get letters like that i dont really take much interest in it.

try and make the letter a little nicer and that you want them to help you and dont put threats into a letter it doesnt make them sort things quicker

yeah i'll second that, many years in the game and i have seen nasty letters, and placed them at the bottom of my tray, or in the shredder.

I third that!

First letter of complaint must always be as polite as possible. You're more likely to get a response.

If they dont answer your question or fob you off, write a second letter - still be polite but refer back to your original letter.

The more letters you have to write, the angrier you can become in the letters.

Totally agree with the others. You need to sound more polite in your letter. If you tell them you won't be buying another Toyota because the service is horrible then they're hardly going to bother trying to put things right for you, are they?

However, the use of clever and sly subliminal comments is a different matter! But yeah, seen as this is 1st contact, just be as nice as possible while still getting your point across.

The time to step it up a notch from there is after a couple of attempts to be reasonable with the people, and still getting nowhere with them! You can always post us a revision of your letter again if you need any more help

Just imagine you are the guy who opens this letter... what do you think....

'Blah blah blah, moan moan moan, has a go at my company, aggresive wording... blah'

Hmmmm... where's my bin gone...

You got to be nice, and i'd recommend writing to your dealer manager first, let them know your feelings, then to the main dealer/head office in israel if you get no response... then if you still get nothing, write to japan... but you got to be nice... give them the sob story, and explain tho them why you think it is reasonable to expect new brakes to be fitted to your car as that is all you wanted in the first place.

This is a tough one - whereas you do need to get your point across - and its an entirely valid one, you do need to ensure it doesn't get ignored.

I had a rear brake pads issue with my dealer and what I did was find another dealer and get them to inspect the car and complain on my behalf. In the UK they are then forced (according to their own procedure) to close the complaint to my acceptance.

This is ongoing for me at the moment ...

Hope this is helpful

P.S. If you can get cheap shipping, you're still welcome to my old discs and pads.

All I would write.

About a month ago, my brakes started to make a strange noise, I went to the authorised Toyota garage and asked them to change the brake pads. They did not. Instead, they sanded the edges of the pads making it smaller in width.

Is this correct Toyota approved practice?

.......................................................................................................

They should then reply.

Yes - I doubt that.

No - take the letter and show it to your local Garage that did the work..

No reply - Write another letter with more explanation and photo's (and refer to earlier letter)..

Yes I agree, straight to the point - If you can make your letter complaint easy to read - its easier to deal with.

I work for the Promotion Team at <a v. large unmentioned company>. One guy sent me a letter asking where their cashback cheque was after buying a printer. The letter was 2 pages long, rude and agressive and was a rant at <the company> for being <bad word here>. I didnt read all the letter myself - being partime, left the letter to deal with if he complains again.

When that time came, I replied saying if he would like to submit his printer's serial number as this is stated in the T&C's of the promotion, i'll send him a cheque. Went quiet then lol.... anyway sorry going off topic a bit.

Just a suggestion, try using as much basic english as you can.

I feel that females are better at writing this kind of letter... dunno why.. maybe because they can be a little more sensitive?.

Maybe a nice female here could come up with something for him?.. straight to the point not cheeky in any way.( just more of an enquirey into the way things should be delt with)

I thought Chaps was very sensitive with his letter!

As a "sensitive bird" heres my version - feel free to use it (although I will nick some of Chappers' words as his was really good!)

Dear Sir or Madam

I recently purchased my Toyota Yaris from <insert garage name>, located in <town>, Isreal. I have been very pleased with my new Yaris and is has given me many miles of enjoyment so far.

However, about a month ago, my brakes started to make a strange noise, I went to the authorised Toyota garage and asked them to change the brake pads. They did not. Instead, they sanded the edges of the pads making it smaller in width.

As you can imagine, I am unhappy with this outcome as I expected them to change the brake pads without any objection. Is this correct Toyota approved practice?

The discs themselves also appear to be rusting, which does not seem right for a <insert number> month old car. I once again visited my local garage, who were insistent that my brake discs were fine. However my mind was not put at ease by his claims.

I know that Toyota build cars with an excellent safety record, however my main concern is that with the brake pads being sanded down, that there will be less braking power, which in itself is very worrying and I would like you to take this opportunity to advise me as to what I can do.

I eagerly await your response to this matter.

Yours faithfully

But is Union Importers an "Authorised Toyota Dealer" or just an importer? If it's the latter I suspect Toyota will be "hands off"

:o

And heres me thinking we had smaller feet because it would stop world hunger and make the world a better place..... :D

And besides, I do have very small feet - so I went out, walking on said small feet - and purchased a dishwasher, so I dont have to stand at the counter to wash up! Which saves my nails from some hellish torture - Fairy liquid is no good for your talons at all!

The joys of modern technology eh!

It's no good for eczema sufferers either... that's me! My hands are as crooked as a 90yr old chain smokers face.
