Does anyone know of, if at all possible where I can get my 2000 Celica vvti re-mapped?

Thanks all

Mike

Hi there.

I'm pretty sure you can't reprogram the standard ECU, and I don't think it can be 'chipped' either. You would need to replace the ECU with an aftermarket one to use different maps.

Why do you want to remap it anyway?

I want it that little bit more responsive without having to do some 'major' tuning, I had my previous car re-mapped and was delited with the results, no more flat spots through out the rev range and a lot more responsive!

Looks like I'll have to forget about re-mapping them as I'm not prepared to throw countless cash at my car for minimal gains and a rediculous insurance premium.

Thanks for the response anyway!

Does your vvti have flat spots?

I guess remapping your previous car made it more 'responsive' by changing the 'tip-in' and 'tip out' profiles in the ECU. It might have a similar effect on the Celica, if it were possible to remap it.

TBH, I'm quite disappointed in the general performance of the celica, maybe it is just mine for some reason or another its under performing.

I was expecting it to fly through the rev range, though unless 'booting it' on the rare occasion that I have there is a definate lack of responsiveness.

Maybe my expectations of the output performance was way too high :crybaby:

Other than that, for general looks and style the celica is by far the nicest car I have owned so far!!

Honestly, no. I don't push it all the way to the red-line mainly as I've only owned 'her' for 3 weeks and don't fancy the pistons jumping through the bonnet ;)

I was expecting to be half thrown back into my seat when putting my foot down. My fathers Vauxhall Zafira (go on have a laugh) exerts more of a force when accelerating than my celica appears to :(

Surely I shouldn't have to red-line it to get a decent acceleration, should I??

Cheers

Lol, fair point, so when you say red line, how far into the red line? (probably a stupid question) should it be taken?

Torque is what gives you the 'push in the back' feeling of acceleration. The gen 7's 1.8 engine is a bit lacking in torque. You really need to rev it, to get the most from this engine. That's the disadvantage of the gen 7 - you have to thrash it for it to feel fast. After the first 1000 miles or so, it should be fine to give the engine plenty of stick. If you don't like revving the engine, then you deffinitely don't want to swap for a 190 celica!

I also was quite disapointed in my Gen 6 Celica GT...i thought it would be faster, but the higher revs seems to be where the speed is :)

Is it possible to chip/remap a gen 6 celica?

lol what the hell does that mean? i dont mind revving it :) just thought it would power it all the way around the rev counter...

but can u get a gen 6 celica remaped/chipped? i seen one on fensport...is that the only one available? for it?

i have an idea what you mean as you have to get hi revs to start feeling the decent power come thru, I also was a little apprehensive about its pick up until i started visiting the hi revs, granted i have only had it a little over a week so i am sure i`ll find the finer points out myself, but i do like the way it corners as well very nice and picks up a straight line quickly :)

Lol buy a gen 5 and have a scream!!!! :group-cuddles:

You can get it remapped to go like Sh** off a shovel. Just ask the guy when you take it there. I did with mine but went back a few days later due to the fact it drank more than I do!!!
