I have been warned by a police because I drove abit too fast (without camera proof) near town. I admit I'm a fool.

But he told me that the new law has put in place that if any other police stopped me again. I won't see my car again...:wacko:

although you dont get 2 chances!

Hows that work then?

do they charge you a fee to get it back, like parking/clamping.

just seems a little odd to me,must be more to it than that

Tis the new cruising law, basically you get 1 warning then they impound the vehicle and you can go and pick your car up next day for a £112 fine but if you don't go and pick it up next day then add another £112 for everyday day that you don't

They can also ban you from driving on a particular road for 24hrs if you are stopped on it, like say a seafront road that is used by cruisers.

Rob, that Evo was ragging it around the circuit when it got impounded ;)

I'd like to see them argue in court that "he looked like he might have been going a bit too fast" without hard evidence!!!

is this a national thing or just being tested in a few regions?? it's the first I've heard of it.

Even so, I think it's a good idea to take a car off someone who is not only risking their life/health/NCB etc but showing such disregard for other roadusers safety. If you can't play nice you get your toys taken away. It's just parenting ! With a big fine.

Nah its a law they tested in Derbys...basically if you blast around being a pain then a neighbour "complains" the police can impound youre car for the night. It was a measure to stop kids borrowing their parents cars for the night and driving like mad! . The police had the power to take the car away, take the person home and inform whoevers car it was. i.e the parents, plus the parents had no car to drive to work in the morning!!!

Also now (so ive heard of in Notts) they can check the car and see the mods. They then phone the insurance co. up and ask if you have declared youre mods. If not then the insurance is void therefore the car gets towed (at youre cost) and you pay to get it back (plus inpund fees)

yea i was pulled over and told this, i understood the law fine, fair enough if ur being stoopid or dangerous, but they pulled me over purly because i had a modded car, i hadnt even been out driving that evening i had to cut into town purly to get the club 2 pick my gf up, it was at 1.30, quiet, my car ---> loud :P pig--> quick pull him over

its to cut out the cruzin from ur typical chavs in their banged up motors ragging around the town with little to no regard for any1 else, creates a bad scene for modders with decent cars, u get labled as being the same, harsh in my opinion when u compare

One thing to tell you is my friend is a copper.

He need to give out a 54section plus other warning to build up his profile and keeping his boss happy....

Shouldn't they review how the police work?

I admit I'm a right idiot to drive round town abit fast, I will leave it on the track sir...

:censor: :censor: fcuking hate police rules! so a copper can take your car away with out any hard evidence yet last year when we got hit by a drunk driver and 5 coppers witnessed him being breathalised 5 times! over the limit he is allowed to be reliesed the next day due to the "evidence" not being properly logged by the officer in charge

ffs i hate english rules

btw the drunk dirver in question still has is licence today, justice? i think not

sorry rant over....

same thing happened to me today. went back to chester, took the route through town see whats going on, cos my zorst was loud and i admit i did accelerate quite quickly in first gear, got round corner and there was a copper, pulledme over, told me off, said about this section 59 thing. too my numberplate down. gutted.

so is it in any city now if i get pulled over they will impound my car, or will it be with north wales police??

Girl that owns that evos a good mate of mine..and she wasnt ragging at all that night..what happened was there was lots of tv cameras out and instead of impounding some crappy nova they went for the evo...because of course decent cars look better on t.v....and strangly enough too..she didnt have to pay any impound costs the next day either..how ery odd!!

luckily enough ive advoided a section 59 so far but plenty havent!!

This is the first I've heard of this

So lets get this right in some parts of the country the 'Boys in Blue' will pull you over (with a view to impounding) for having an enthusiast ownered/ cared for vehicle and proudly taking it for a drive one evening

Where I live in Shropshire we've found if you are polite the police are very friendly. Sometimes people get pulled over with the reply by the copper of "Nice car, nothing wrong just wanted to have a look at it" This happened with a Lady friend of mine who had a classic 50's car and thus didn't need to wear (nor have fitted...it's pre '62 ) seatbelts. The policeman pulled us over and 'laughingly said wheres your seat belts Sir/Ma'am, sorry only joking, just wanted to have a look  ...because i've got one" Always puts his thumbs up when he sees us now

Also found if you are driving sensible they let things like ilegal spacing of numberplates etc. pass by (one of my cars has illegal spacing and when driving home from work I pass a motorcycle cop every day parked up at the same junction everyday he just smiles :D )

However if there is a 'chav' who 'accelerates' past playing 'thud thud' music then yes; he/she will get pulled.

Finally a lot of Police are vehicle 'nuts' themselves; at a 'Custom/Classic' car show last year I got talking to the owner of the car next to me, found out he was a traffic cop

Is that part of that flag system, I've heard others mentioned.

I can't remember the exact details, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

If your car is just AT (not involved in) an illegal cruise or street race and they take

the details of the car and you. Then if you get 2 flags against the car they can take it away on the 3rd occasions.

I'm worried cos my Favourite food place at 2am is on the other side of car meet area/road in central Brum. :crybaby:

DAMN!!! NO MORE LATE NIGHT FOOD!!! :ffs: :D

I must admit it seriously :censor: es me off when you get pulled over purely so they can have a nose around you car and look under the bonnet....

In my eyes thas a gross misuse of police time, and a mild for of victimisation.

I sympathise with what you say but perhaps i'm just 'numb' to it ...for I work at a M.O.D / Military establishment and it can be a daily experiance for 'Uniformed Persons' (M.O.D Police and Royal Military Police) to be walking around your car and in some case want to 'Check it over' but in my case for explosives (terrorist threat etc.)!

I'm happy because when i'm at work there surely can be nowhere safer than a military compound

I'm glad the coppers here know me. They don't pull me over anymore. Used to pull me over all the time when I moved here. Now they just leave me be... :)
