I cant even remember what I bought my old man for his 50th - it was only 4 years ago too!

Just get him something from the heart - it doesnt need to be big or extravagant - just something for him to treasure from his son.

Yeah, I'd agree with what others have said... Something that matters, something personal. I (think I ) got my Dad a pen...

I know from experience at work that many people get clocks, wallets and stuff that the recipient will use every day, but they get it personalised with engraving and stuff.

I'm not going to plug the company I work for, but we're in that business ;)

As I hit the half century last October I'd also say something to treasure. It doesn't have to be that expensive or flash. The watch or pen ideas are nice ones.
