Hi not sure if i should post this here.

Whats the story with japanese grey imports now? Is changed to ESVA & model reports for cars less than 10 yrs old? I driven few jap cars but UK spec & my friend lives in Thailand & goes to japan few times & want to import a car into the UK when he comes back to Europe & got me thinking i wouldnt mind importing one to UK as my nxt car.

I wouldnt mind a newish Toyota Hi lux(not a commercial pick up, u can still get a proper jeep version with all the luxuries features & 7seats etc..in japan)

Would it be straight foward to get newish JDM cars for on the road UK use? or is it good bye to JDM imports for UK since ESVA changed?

Thanks

I think the best thing to do is speak to a UK based importer there are loads on the net and see what they say.

A man after my own heart

As Earpl rightly said there are Surfs for sale in the UK if you look in the auto ads there are 3 main engines to chose from

2.4 td 97 bhp 240 NM torgue (bit under powered but cheap on the insurance i found) but beware the 2.4 in renowned for cracking cylinder heads and before you buy one get some advice from people on here.

3.0 td 130bhp 289 NM torque (more expensive on the insrance and some companys would'nt even touch it where they would the 2.4)

And there is a petrol V6 dont know the stats (but i would think you would need to own a oil company to run it)

But they are a very good car and virtually indestrucable
