i jut had something similar

im sellin my m/bike in the freeads and a guy rung up and said to my mum that wat would the price of my bike go down to bearing in mind its up for 1200. any way so today i rung him back up and said im prepared to take offers but not going to bargain it down, but also he would have to view the bike first. So then he says oh rite well ill have to speak to my nephew as hes the one who wants it and also he is a bit short of money so ill have to see what he says.

so i think thats the end of that one.

Sounds oh! so familiar... how many times have we all read os seen on t.v. about something like this happening?.. loads n loads. You would think that the scammers would learn , but they don't... why?.. because there is always some poor sucker prepared to give out their bank details.. it's us who never learn!.

Glad you didn't fall for it m8.. get cash up front, or a cheque, but wait till the cheque clears before giving away the car... NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR BANK DETAILS.

(would paypal not do?? lol)

theres a website somewhere where you can log these with comedy replies! but i cant for love nor money remeber what its called!

i had one a bit back, saw an Alpine IVA D900 headunit (about 2k brand new when it first came out!)

and one was selling on there, so i put a bid in

i had two or three plonkers contacting me saying they could give it for me for a grand, so i kept bartering with them and managed to get one down to about 50quid and they repied

yes thats good we can do this deal for ALPINE IVA D900 FULL MMC for 50gbp

so i asked how the justified that

we buy these in bulk at trade price to give low low price for ALPINE IVA D900 FULL MMC

so trade price is less than 50pounds for a 2,000 pound unit?

yes ok we can arrange for less the 50pounds for ALPINE IVA D900 FULL MMC

 go away!
